Noninvasive Tests For Cirrhosis May Help To Avoid Liver Biopsy (Science Daily)

Newer ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging tests yield encouraging initial results in diagnosing fibrosis and cirrhosis of the liver, according to three new studies. With further research, these and other non-invasive imaging techniques may reduce the need for biopsies -- procedures done to obtain a tissue sample -- to determine the presence and severity of fibrosis and cirrhosis.
