In 1971, the state began caring for elders with complex mental illnesses and developmental disabilities at the Glencliff Home in the North Country. In recent years, Glencliff has seen an influx of men and women in their 40s and 50s, unable to get the help they need in their hometowns, but ill suited for typical nursing homes.
